Giro d'Italia - from Amalfi to Florence (8 days)
Date 10th May 2018 - 17th May 2018 ($4950pp Twin Share)
Thursday 10th Amalfi - We will pick you up from Rome airport and head to the Amalfi coast where we will settle into our accomodation in the town of Amalfi. After settling in and getting the bikes built we can go for a short ride to blow the cob webs out and check out the beautiful coast.
We can then explore and get ourselves up to date with what's happening with the Giro while enjoying a drink before getting to know each other over a welcoming dinner.
Friday 11th Amalfi - we will start with a nice two hour ride into Positano in the morning taking in the views of the Amalfi coast followed with a coffee. In the afternoon we have some free time, maybe see some local sights. before another venue for dinner to enjoy this beautiful part of south Italy
Saturday 12th Campania Region - We will ride into Salerno and onto the Giro course and up the final hilltop finish. This will be the first test for us! We'll then head north to our accomodation for a nice dinner and a few drinks.
Sunday 13th Abruzzo Region - Another hilltop finish is on the cards for the pro's which means we will ride the last part of the course in the beautiful Abruzzo region. Then onto our accommodation on the east coast.
Monday 14th Perugia - Its a rest day for the pro's and time for us to have a rest from the climbs. A nice coastal ride is on the menu before we head to our gorgeous accommodation in Umbria, a 13th century castle! We might even have time to pop into a winery or two.
Tuesday 15th Perugia - An easy start to the day, checking out the castle and surrounding areas before rolling to the finish of the stage nearby. We'll then head back for our last night at the castle.
Wednesday 16th Florence - A morning ride and a chance to watch the start of the stage in the Giro. Then its into Florence for all the sights before enjoying our final night together.
Thursday 17th Florence - Its time to say our goodbyes and if time permits, the last chance to check out the beautiful city of Florence before we do the airport drop off at Florence Airport
Giro d'Italia - from Venice to Milan (10 days)
Date 19th May 2018 - 28th May 2018 ($5950pp Twin Share)
Saturday 19th Conegliano - We will pick you up from Venice Marco Polo Airport at 9am. On the way back to our accommodation in Conegliano we will pick up the start of the stage not far down the road. After settling in and getting the bikes built we can go for a short ride to blow the cob webs out and check out the town before we grab the Zoncalon stage at a local bar. Save your appetite though, we'll head to a castle for our official welcome dinner where the local food is incredible and the views unbelievable.
Sunday 20th Cortina - After a beautiful breakfast, we'll head North to the Dolomites. As the riders hit the heart of the Dolomites we will ride part of the breathtaking stage taking in a few mountains before we transfer to our accommodation in the winter wonderland of Cortina.
Monday 21st Cortina - While the pro's have a rest day we will tackle Monte Zoncalon, one of the most demanding climbs in professional road bicycle racing, having been used in the Giro d'Italia five times prior. We'll then head back to our accommodation in Cortina.
Tuesday 22nd Sirmione - Before heading South, we will take the opportunity to ride up the famous Passo Pordoi, an absolutely incredible area of the Dolomites & one of our favourite areas! We'll then head down to Lago di Garda to watch the Time Trial and settle in for the afternoon before heading to Sirmione for the nights accommodation.
Wednesday 23rd San Remo - A lazy start to the morning with a stroll around the gorgeous historic town of Sirmione, we'll then watch the start of the stage before heading to the Riviera. We plan on riding the last part of Milan- San Remo taking in the final two famous climbs before settling into our accommodation in San Remo.
Thursday 24th Briancon- We will start the day with a casual roll into Monaco to check out the famous town. Once back we will head to watch a section of the race before heading North & into the French town of Briancon for our two night stay.
Friday 25th Briancon - Today we will be roadside to watch the race and climb the famous Col d Finestre, a gorgeous climb & the road turns to dirt with 8kms to go! We'll then head back to our accommodation in Briancon
Saturday 26th Cossato - This morning we plan on tackling Alpe d'huez, an opportunity not to be missed! In the afternoon we'll head to the gorgeous area Valle D' Aosta to watch the penultimate stage of the Giro somewhere along the route. Then we will head back to the home of Gruppetto Cycling Tours in Cossato to meet Mamma Rita and be spoilt rotten with local food and wine.
Sunday 27th Cossato - We will head out for a nice ride to explore the Piemonte area. Then back to Mama's in Cossato where we can watch the final stage in Rome on TV and share stories of the trip over our final supper together.
Monday 28th Cossato - The day has arrived where we must say our goodbyes. The Gruppetto crew will drop you at Milano airport at 11am so you can carry on with your future travel plans.
